“When this picture was taken I had recently moved to New Jersey from Pittsburgh. The same month I was chosen to be ‘Citizen of the Month’ for the first and only time. This is also the only year that my mom let me get the laser background, how could she deny me when it coordinated so well with my pink acrylic sweater and skirt ensemble? I think my face says it all in this picture—I was on top of the world.” -Emily
